A Chinese grandmother was run over inside a supermarket in Shanghai, China. Sadly, the results were fatal, and they were videotaped.
The unfortunate 60-year-old lady was doing nothing more than shopping at a supermarket. STomp, and Mail Online both report the lady was taking her shopping cart down an escalator, when a trolley loaded with fifteen crates of drinks careened down the escalator behind her.
The trolley the two men used was apparently their own, rather than one which was designed for the escalator. The Lianhua supermarket trolleys are designed to clamp on to the ridges on the escalator surface.
In the video, the lady can be seen meandering down the escalator, and calmly disembarking at the bottom, until a split second before the runaway shopping trolley is directly behind her. She then turns to see what the noise is about and almost immediately gets smashed 6 to 7 metres (19-22 feet) from her position and strikes a pillar.
Shoppers rush to her aid, to remove the debris and offer assistance. She was rushed to hospital, however she succumbed to her injuries.
An investigation is ensuing—no mention of the men being held in connection with the incident is mentioned.
