XY-LABS offers three options for Laminar Flow Cabinets. All three types of cabinet provide clean air better than Class 100 at the worksurface. This is achieved through the use of pre-filters (to protect the main filter) and HEPA filters that are rated at 99.997% efficient at 0.3 microns. Higher rated HEPA filters such as 0.12 microns are available if required.

Internal lighting is fitted as standard to all units and the vertical laminar flow range can be fitted with UV lights and night doors if required. Sizes of cabinets range from the compact vertical laminar flow VLF6 measuring just 670mmwide up to the large1900mmwide horizontal laminar flow unit the HLF18.

Despite being in sealed containers, specimens can still provide a source of potentially hazardous fumes wherever they are kept. XY-LABS Chemical Storage Cabinets have been specifically designed for the storage of specimens suspended in formalin to ensure complete COSHH compliance and provide full fume containment for as long as the specimens are kept.

Housed behind lockable acrylic doors, the containers are kept on an adjustable shelving system. Each shelf can, if required, house a stainless steel spillage tray to contain any mishaps or breakages. Fume containment is achieved with a constant current of air passing through the cabinet. The air is then pulled through a carbon filter where all formalin fumes are removed before being returned back into the room.

Clean air is drawn in through the front aperture and through openings in the rear baffle to ensure even flow throughout the entire working area. The openings at the top of the baffle ensure that any heated air can also be collected. Contaminated air is pulled down the back of the cabinet and into the plenum chamber before passing through the large capacity22kgactivated carbon filter. Should the airflow drop below recommended levels, a low-airflow alarm will activate. The carbon filter can also be monitored by way of an optional filter saturation alarm that gives both audible and visual warnings in event of filter saturation.
