Reduce Valve Damage to Lengthen the Service Life of Metal Valves - 2013-06-19 14:30:52
The Soft seated butterfly valve are very important devices used for a variety of applications in many different fields and are used for controlling the flow of the fluids including gases and liquids in the pipelines. The valves are available in many different types including metal seated butterfly valve, gate valve, isolating valve, etc. and they are mainly made from metals including cast iron, cast steel, forged steel, forged iron, etc. The valves can be easily damaged by many common factors including internal factors and external factors. The use of the valves is very important in the pipeline, and therefore, it is very important to know the factors that cause damage to the Single Eccentric Butterfly Valve as well as the relative solutions so as to lengthen the service life of the valves. The only internal factor that causes damage to the valve is the quality of the valve itself. The valve is composed of many components, and all these components work together to perform the functions of stopping and reclosing the flow of the fluid in the pipeline. Therefore, the quality of these components must be controlled to ensure the performance of the Double Eccentric Butterfly Valve. If the valve is not good in quality, the valve can be damaged by the impact from the fluid. For example, the cast steel gate valve is made from cast steel. If the strength of the manufacturing material is not high enough, the gate valve is not able to bear the pressure from the fluid. Thus, quality control is very important, and the strength and the safety performance of the valve should be tested before it is used for desired applications. The second factor that causes damage to the valve is an external factor. The fluids that flow through the valve are corrosive sometimes. The Aluminum Butterfly Valve are mainly made from metals which can be eroded by the corrosive fluids easily. For example, the sealing surface of the cast iron gate valve is made from dark cast iron which is not free from corrosion. When it contacts the corrosive fluids, the sealing surface can be eroded and the sealing performance can be greatly weakened. Therefore, the materials for manufacturing the valve should be changed, or the inner surface of the valve can be processed through special treatment. The best method for preventing corrosion is adopting non-metallic materials to manufacture the inner lining of the valve, and the non-metallic materials include rubber, nylon, plastics, etc. which can be used for coating the inner part of the valve. The non-metallic materials should be coated in the valve without leaving any gap so as to ensure the corrosion resistant performance. The last factor is the improper operation of the PTFE Lined Butterfly Valve. The valve requires correct operation from the operator to maintain its functions. The valves are available in different types, and each type of the valves has its own application range. If the valve is not used within its application range, it can be damaged. The damage caused by wrong operation can be easily reduced by reading the instructions of the valve thoroughly to be clear about the application range, operation method and cautions of the valve. The damage caused by the three factors can be greatly reduced by the given measures, and the service life of the valve can be greatly lengthened for cost saving.
