Measures for Improving the Service Life of Gate Valves - 2013-06-21 14:39:20
The Single Eccentric Butterfly Valve is a part used for changing the accessing section of the fluid and the flowing direction, but the gate valve could be damaged by some reasons like the corrosion of the medium, quality defects and wrong operations and so on, and among all these reasons, the corrosion is one of factors to damage the gate valve most easily, especially for metallic gate valves such as metal seated butterfly valve, cast steel gate valve and cast gate valve and so on. Electrochemical corrosion damages metallic valves at all kinds of forms, and it can even quicken the corrosion because of potential difference. Therefore, in order to protect gate valves such as cast steel gate valve and cast iron gate valve and so on from corrosion, we must take some measures as follows: First, we should choose corrosion resistant material based on the medium. The density of the medium affects a lot on the gate valve's corrosion since the Self Sealing Type Knife Gate Valve material has different degree of corrosion when the medium is at different density. Therefore, we must choose gate valve materials based on the real demand. For example, if we choose cast iron gate valve when we need to choose cast steel gate valve, we will have a great loss because of the corrosion finally. Second, we can choose painting material for metal gate valve like metal seated butterfly valve. Coating material is a widely-used method for corrosion, and it is a kind of non-metallic material used for covering the surface of the metal in order to separate the medium and the air to reach the antiseptic aim. Therefore, currently most of metal valves use antiseptic coating inside to prevent the corrosion to the valve. Third, metallic surface finish is also a good method for preventing the corrosion to Wafer Type Dual-plate Check Valve. Metallic surface finish includes surface seepage, sleeping coating and surface oxidation and surface passivation and so on, and the aim of metallic surface finish is to increase the corrosion resistant ability of the metal and to improve the mechanical property of the metal. The surface finish is widely used on gate valves. Apart from measures introduced above for preventing gate valves from corrosion, we can also improve the structure of the gate valve and operate them in a right way to reduce chances to damage the gate valve, and in this way we can improve the service life of the gate valve.
