A new company has grown out of the recent redundancies at Nokian Tyres. Blank Donuts aims to provide a full engineering service for the world's tyre makers- offering everything from detailed design of tyres and factories to a full turn-key operation where an investor needs only money and the Black Donuts team will design a factory, specify equipment, design the tyres and work out the factory workflow to make the tyres.
Managing director Kai Hauvala told ERJ that the company employs all its engineers and does not employ freelancers.
Currently, the company has about 30 engineers on the payroll, of whom about half came from Nokian, while the others came from different tyre makers around the world, according to Hauvala.
