Adapter and withdrawal sleeves are used to secure bearings with a tapered bore onto cylindrical shaft seats. They facilitate bearing mounting and dismounting and often simplify bearing arrangement design.

Adapter sleeves are more popular than withdrawal sleeves as they do not require axial locating devices on the shaft. That is why only adapter sleeves are shown together with suitable bearings in the product table.

SKF adapter sleeves are slotted and are supplied complete with lock nut and locking device. The adapter sleeves for use with sealed self-aligning ball bearings are equipped with a special locking washer that has a protrusion on the side facing the bearing, in order to prevent the seal from being damaged. These sleeves are identified by the suffix C.
