Description

Hydroxyethyl cellulose (HEC) products are water-soluble polymers that thicken, form films, exhibit pseudoplastic solution behavior, tolerate salts and retain water. This versatile family of products is widely used in latex paints, building materials, oilfield chemicals and cleaning products, along with many other specialty applications.

HEC for oil drilling 

1. The HEC for drilling mud serves as a thickening agent in various types of mud needed by different operations such as drilling, completion, cementing, and fracturing. It can provide mud with desirable fluidity and stability.

2. In the drilling process, this product can improve the mud-carrying ability, and also stop much water from entering oil layer. Additionally, it stabilizes the production capacity of oil layer.

Applications of HEC in Oil Exploitation

1. For high-speed drilling, this product can timely and effectively cool the drills and extend service life. The anti-calcium capacity of drilling fluid can be also improved.

2. In well-cementation mud or low-solids drilling fluid, the outstanding water-holding performance of HEC is able to improve the yield of oil well. Additionally, its superior rheological property can decrease the pump power and pump pressure.

3. As a gelling agent in fracturing fluid, the hydroxyethyl cellulose for oil drilling can not only increase the yield of oil gas and prolong the lifespan of oil well, but also break the gel rapidly. The content of its residues produces low damage to drill core.
