5A Molecular Sieve is an alkali alumina silicate. It is the calcium form of Type A crystal structure. Type 5A has an effective pore opening of 5 angstroms (0.5nm).It will adsorb molecules with kinetic diameter of less than 5 Angstrom and exclude those larger.

It is especially suitable for PSA and Vpsa absorber applications where it may be used for the separation of normal and iso-paraffins (C4 to C6 species),in PSA hydrogen purification and in oxygen concentrators

Application:
1 Removal of water, carbon dioxide, and hydrocarbons from feed gas in air pre-purification  units;
2, PSA separation for Iso/normal paraffin (n-C4∼n-C6 mixtures);
3, Purification of air, oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen and synthesis gases from mixed gas streams;
4, Dehydration and purification of LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas), ammonia cracked gas and other industrial gases or liquids;
5, Dehydration and purification of inert gas.

Regeneration                                                                                  

5A molecular sieve can be regenerated by either heating in the cas of thermal swing processes or by lowering the pressure in the case of pressure swing processes.

To remove moisture from a 5A molecular sieve, a temperature of 250^oC-300^oC is required. A properly regenerated molecular sieve can give moisture dew points below-100C.or mercaptan of CO₂ levels below 2ppmv. 

The outlet  concentrations on a pressure swing process will depend on the gas present, and on the conditions of the process. 

Size 

5A-Zeolites  are available in beads of 1-2mm(10×18mesh), 2-3mm(8×12mesh), 2.5-5mm (4×8mesh)  and as power and in pellet 1.6,3.2

To avoid damp  and pre-adsorption of organic before running,or must to be reactivated.
